Treedom
Treedom is an e-commerce platform that allows anyone to plant trees in different countries around the world. The organization also offers its clients the possibility to receive an image of the planted trees, as well as their gps coordinates, in order to keep them informed of their growth and the projects they belong to.
Mode of operation
Treedom works in collaboration with local communities, non-governmental organizations and small farmer cooperatives across countries such as Nepal, Kenya, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Argentina, Thailand, Italy, etc.
When a person selects a tree from Treedom’s range of saplings, it is taken care of by local farmers on behalf of the buyer. Once planted, the sapling is photographed and geolocated and this information is given to the buyer. Once the tree is purchased, the platform also allows a tree to be offered by the buyer. In the case of fruit trees, once the tree begins to bear fruit, it is considered to belong to the farmers who cared for the tree. As such, these fruits are used commercially by the farmers. Until the trees become commercially beneficial, Treedom offers agroforestry training to the farmers.

As of February 2021, Treedom has planted 1.7 million trees and partnered with 75,000 farmers in Asia, Africa and Central America, Italy and the Americas.
